Kate Nation Ceramic II

Hudson artist Kate Nation makes sculptural ceramic objects that are inspired by sensations, memories, shared emotions, and mythology. Formed by hand, wheel-thrown, and hand-altered, each piece is individual and suggests a human body shaped by leaning into or away from other bodies adjacent to it. Purposely ambiguous form, Kate's work explores physical and energetic shape shifting incited by contact, collusion, avoidance, and boundaries. 

Surfaces are left with the marks of creation on raw clay or painted with clay slip and glaze, exposing certain parts and veiling others.
