20th c. Faux Bois Iron Plant Stand
Faux bois is French for “false wood”—a style that found its stride in mid-19th-century France, in which artists would sculpt branches, bark, and knot-like texture into new materials like cast iron and cement. Part folk art, part rustic romanticism, it’s a tradition we’re especially partial to in cast iron. It feels hard and soft at once. Originally made to be a plant stand, this antique piece could hold anything you like: a candle, a vase with florals, an object.
